Formentera, easier than ever before
Formentera, easier than ever before
Mediterranea Pitiusa, the ferry company born in Formentera, is part of the island's personality. Created in 2000 with the vast experience of maritime professionals,
the company sets out to deliver the best service to inhabitants of Ibiza and Formentera, who rely on ferries to cross between the islands.
The company is currently in full growth phase, increasing its services, its timetables and its fleet, which now consists of three fast ferries and two express boats that cover the route between Ibiza and Formentera.
The most immediate result is that it's never been so easy or so comfortable to travel between the islands at any time of the day. Mediterranea Pitiusa ferries depart every twenty minutes (both directions) and cover a longer timetable than ever before. It doesn't matter whether you're an early riser and want to go to Formentera first thing in the morning or whether you like to take things easy and travel later on in the day, as the island's very own ferry company will always have a boat ready for you to hop across the water.
Early bird schedules to Formentera
For early risers, adventurers who want to take advantage of the day or even night owls on their way home, Mediterranea Pitiusa has an early boat at 6.30 am from Formentera to Ibiza on Saturdays and Sundays, and at 7.00 am from Ibiza to Formentera every day of the week. Both are operated by fast ferries, so in under half an hour you'll have reached your destination.
Night transport between islands
At the other end of the spectrum, there's an end to watching the time for fear of missing 'the last boat' for anyone spending a full day on either island. Mediterranea Pitiusa has a boat from Ibiza to Formentera at 1.00 am and one from Formentera to Ibiza at 12.00 midnight. So, you can forget about hurrying if you're spending the day on the neighbouring island. We're the only company that covers the route between Ibiza and Formentera at 1.00 in the morning. So, thanks to Mediterranea Pitiusa, a last-minute shopping trip, an unmissable dinner, a must-see sunset, a moonlight swim or a cool concert in the town square will no longer be sacrificed due to the tyranny of a timetable.
Aigües de Formentera vessel: sustainable and renviromental fiendliness
What's more, this late-night crossing - like many others throughout the day - is operated by the newest and most modern vessel in the fleet, the Aigües de Formentera, launched in January 2019. This is a high-speed catamaran manufactured in Norway to the highest standards of construction and naval design. Something that gives it an extraordinarily comfortable ride for the passenger, whatever the state of the sea. And it also means that you can do the crossing in just twenty-five minutes, making it the fastest boat in the fleet thanks with a speed of thirty-three knots. All this with fuel consumption much lower than current levels, responding to the requirements of sustainability and environmental friendliness that are one of the company's key strategic investments for the future.
The comfort on board the catamaran is exceptional for the 180 passengers it can accommodate, and it's perfectly adapted to people with reduced mobility, which streamlines boarding and seating.
With all these ingredients, the formula for travelling between Ibiza and Formentera is simpler than ever before. Whether you're a resident or a tourist, Mediterranea Pitiusa provides all the means to make the choice as easy as possible. First thing in the morning, late at night, mid-afternoon, mid-morning... All times are perfect for hopping across the sea with a Formentera-based company with world-level service.
